The PHPClasses site redesign contest is finally getting started.
The deadline for submission was November 30, but by request of a few authors, it was postponed to December 15.
Meanwhile, several design proposals were submitted and available for commenting.

The PHPClasses site is accepting new site redesign proposals now.
In this phase, candidates may create design themes using a visual editor. Then they can submit the design theme proposal when they are done.

The PHPClasses site is launching a new feature that allows authors to publish interesting articles about their classes in specific blogs that are being made available for each class.
The site main blog is also open to every user for submissions of articles of general interest to the PHPClasses site users.
Compensation will be made available to top contributors.

The PHP professionals directory initiative has been enhanced to make it more efficient in its goal to bring together more PHP professionals and businesses willing to hire them.
Now there is a gadget available to provide more exposure to PHP professionals in iGoogle (Google personalized home page), Google Maps, Google Earth or in any other Web site page.
Another new feature is the profile access statistics page. It lets professionals see how many users are checking their profile, visiting their professional home page, or requesting to contact them by e-mail.

The PHP Classes site package rating system was improved to let the users provide better feedback to the package authors.
This post also covers several news of interest like: PHPEdit now available as prize for the innovation award winners; I will be speaking about PHP at Borland/CodeGear Borcon 2007; a new aggregator site about PHP podcasts; and a new wiki about installing applications in PHP and other languages.
